Sant Salvador Sanctuary- Felanitx The Sant Salvador Sanctuary is located at San Salvador mount. The current temple was built at the start of the 18th century on the remains of a former 14th century church built by King Pedro IV de Aragon and erected by dint of the Black Death which caused the decease of half of the population in 1384. In its interior there is a beautiful image of the Virgin and a magnificent Gothic retable. At the top of the mount near the sanctuary known as El Picot, worthy of special mention is a stone cross built in the mid-20th century which replaced a previous one made of iron and copper. A strategically constructed location, previously used for the surveillance of pirate vessels on the Mediterranean and setting sail for various wars and conquests. Nowadays it is a very peaceful, prime spot, endowed in close proximity with a large number of the best beaches and coves in the crystal-clear waters of Majorca. A natural vantage point, this natural area is situated in the municipality of Felanitx in Majorca, stretching 1,682 ha. It forms part of the foothills of the Llevant Mountains and is the highest mountain in the area with a maximum height of 510 m.
